Bought it to take advantage of the WiFi so I wouldn't have to run more cables but the connection is spotty. While I can't rule out my router or ISP, every other WiFi product I have works fine! Player freezes regularly and you have to actually unplug it because it won't reset or turn off. Seller was fine though. Order shipped quickly and arrived without any damage.

It has several of the features that I wanted including blu-ray, WiFi, Netflix and Youtube. I opted for Sharp in hopes for maximum remote compatibility. However, remote Compatibility between the TV and BD-HP70U is minimal. There are lots of mysterious buttons on the BD-HP70U remote that are not described in the manual and don't appear to do anything. A fold out panel of buttons that push other buttons appears senseless. Setup of the WiFi was tedious but eventually worked through all of the settings and succeeded with connection to my wireless router with WPA2 encryption. The blu-ray startup is relatively fast but picture quality is disappointing. In most cases my standard def player looks as good or better. I tried every combination of input/output resolutions on the TV/BD-HP70U. Most of the blu-ray titles have nice forward/back navigation that is accessed with the Sharp remote FFWD/FREV controls... While I agree
setting up the WiFi was unwieldy, and it takes one or two tries to access Netflix, I haven't had any of the lockups or freezes
mentioned by the other reviewers, and the picture looks great in 1080p. I did invest in a Belkin High Speed HDMI cable, which
improved the picture over the Component inputs ( no mention of setup involved in other reviews ) and it also activates Aquos
Link.
I also updated the program version which is now version HB10092302. Apparently Sharp finally got around to fixing the bugs
with Netflix and WiFi, and I'd definitely buy this model again if I had an Aquos set.
Update to the review, I upgraded to a 108 Mbps wireless router from a 54 Mbps, all netflix access problems have
disappeared and the picture is noticably better, so I'd recommend using a wired connection or at least 108 Mbps wireless... Read more
