The Cambridge blu-ray players are not Oppo clones. Both Cambridge Audio and Oppo are using the same Mediatek platform as a starting point for building their players. It is simply not practical for the smaller audio brands to design something as complicated as a blu-ray player entirely from scratch. So they purchase this same reference design from Mediatek and then customize it as desired. This is why the two brand's units appear so similar internally.

There are differences though. This Cambridge player utilizes different components for its analog output stage. And I personally prefer the exterior styling of the Cambridge, as it sports a classic look that's more fitting for a British boutique audio brand.

Regardless, both the Cambridge and Oppo are excellent players.

I don't how many people knew this already, since there is no review here, I need to point out Cambridge 651BD is a clone version of OPPO BDP-93. I am currently looking for a quality Blu-Ray play, so I researched and compared all the Blu-ray players between $500-1000 I can find online. When I look at the PCB design of 651BD, I soon found out it is EXACTLY same as the OPPO BDP-93. Every one knows OPPO is a Chinese company and their players are made in China, however Cambridge claimed their players are designed in London England (Clearly state on surface of the PS cover). I wonder if someone is pretending to be British or stealing from Chinese, ether way Cambridge can hardly be trusted.
